Pleasure craft mooring area

Open every year from May 1st to September 30th for vessels from 6 to 20 m.

What is the mooring area?

In response to the increasing number of pleasure craft and to limit open anchorage, which can damage flora and fauna, the Cannes city council has established a Pleasure Craft Mooring Area (french acronym: ZMEL) to the north of Saint-Marguerite Island. This 5-hectare area can host 28 vessels from 6 to 20 m in the heart of a 43 hectare no-anchor zone.

Who is concerned?

This mooring area is reserved for pleasure craft in good condition and respecting all legal obligations in terms of vessel safety. Use of the moorings is limited to 7 consecutive nights and a total of 21 nights per season in order to enable as many vessels as possible to have access to the ZMEL.

How?

Vessels are accepted* every day. Users must immediately declare their arrival to the Moure Rouge harbour master’s office by VHF, channel 9, or by telephone on +33 (0)4 93 94 37 71 between 9 am and 6 pm. In case of arrival outside of these hours, users must report to the Moure Rouge harbour master’s office the following day from 9 am.

*Moorings must be vacated no later than 12 noon on the day of departure.
