Le musée du Masque de fer et du Fort Royal

Tucked away in the Fort Royal on Île Sainte-Marguerite in the Bay of Cannes, the Musée du Masque de Fer et du Fort Royal (formerly the Musée de la Mer) is an archaeology museum exploring land and sea.

Opening times

For security reasons, big luggages are not allowed in Cannes' museums.

Standard opening times:
Attention: last entry 30 minutes before the closing hour.

OCTOBER À MARCH:
Closed on Monday
Tues - Sun: 10:30am - 1:15pm and 2:15pm - 4:45pm
Closed on nov 1st and 11th, 25 dec 25th, jan 1st.

APRIL / MAY :
Closed on Monday
Tues - Sun: 10:30am - 1:15pm and 2:15pm - 5:45pm
Closed on May 1st

JUNE to SEPTEMBER :
Mon - Sun: 10am - 5:45pm

Access is free on the 1st Sunday of each month, from November to March inclusive.
Free all year for children under 18 and students up to 26 years old.

How to get to Sainte-Marguerite island?

To visit the musée du Masque de Fer et du Fort Royal, you must go to Sainte-Marguerite island.

Maritime shuttles between the "Vieux port" of Cannes and the Lérins Islands provide daily crossings.

  • Animals are not allowed in the museum
