Cannes' Creative Economy

The "Cannes On Air" project is the City Council's initiative to promote the creation of a major audiovisual hub in Cannes

The Festival du Film, the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, MIPTV, MIPCOM, Midem and CANNESERIES bring together the most prestigious audiovisual experts in an exceptional location with state-of-the-art facilities.

In this context, Cannes City Council is developing the audiovisual sector with one clear objective: To equip the city with everything required for creating audiovisual content, producing an economic asset and market opportunity.

Cannes Bastide Rouge: a centre of excellence dedicated to the creative and cultural industries

Cannes Bastide Rouge : Campus créatif

Georges Méliès University Campus and Accommodation

The Georges Méliès Campus (4,445 m²) is located on the Bastide Rouge site in La Bocca. It welcomes nearly 1,000 students and offers courses, most of which are unique in France, dedicated to creative writing and visual arts professions, from French Bac to Bac+8 level, in short or long programmes or in further education. These courses were made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Cannes City Council and the Agglomération Cannes Lérins with the Côte d'Azur University (UCA) and other partners (Vivendi, Canal+, Banijay, INA, etc.).

The City Council is also supporting the creation of a 172-unit student residence in La Bocca, close to high quality sports and leisure facilities (Grand Bleu swimming pool, Cannes Garden Tennis Club, Palais des Victoires, bicycle paths, high-speed bus service, etc.). Scheduled opening: September 2022.

The City of Companies is 2020 m² of shared space in the heart of the university campus that is dedicated to start-ups and project developers, selected to encourage and promote an ecosystem of exchanges between students and professionals.

The Cannes Bastide Rouge studios provide professionals with top-of-the-range equipment for the creation, recording, post-production and screening of audiovisual content. Ideally located at the entrance to Cannes and near the sea, the Bastide Rouge studios are easily accessible and just 30 minutes from Nice Côte d’Azur international airport. More information

The Musée International du Cinéma et du Festival de Cannes

This structural facility will be endowed with a strong and emblematic architectural design, in keeping with its cultural, scientific and touristic ambitions as well as its international influence. Two sites are being considered, located between the Palais des festivals et des congrès and the future Cineum multiplex: one near the MJC Picaud, the other in La Bocca.

The intention is to provide France with a "Guggenheim of the 7th Art" in the city of the world's largest film festival.
