| The port’s sustainable development and cleanliness

 Since 2002, the City of Cannes has managed Pierre Canto port. The notions of a “garden port” and a “clean port” have been central concerns in the large-scale investments made in recent years (revegetation, waste collection centre, underwater works, etc.). These efforts were rewarded by the granting of the highly coveted ‘Pavillon Bleu’ label in 2008. It is the duty of each one of us to preserve the port’s exceptionally fine environment by following the following instructions.

As a high temple of world tourism for both business and leisure clienteles, standing on the shores of one of the most beautiful seas in the world and boasting an outstanding setting, Cannes just had to have a marina that lives up to its reputation. Port Pierre Canto forms an integral part of the history of Cannes (see pages 20 and 21). Since March 2002, the harbour is managed by the local authorities with the accent on total transparency. Substantial investments have been made during this time, devoted to security and technical infrastructures in order to modernise the harbour. Local authority control also means that Port Canto is the most competitively priced marina in the area. The new set-up has restored the prestigious image Port Pierre Canto enjoyed in days gone by. Many more projects are in store to complement the concrete improvements from which users already benefit. With almost six hundred mooring berths, the marina can accommodate boats ranging from six to eighty-five metres in length. Everything is designed to create as userfriendly an environment as possible, guaranteeing a carefree stay for sailing enthusiasts.
Video cameras linked to the police station guarantee the safety of people and property 24/7. The entrance to the car park, which offers 500 parking spaces, is guarded, ensuring peace of mind. Pleasure boaters will find every service they require inside the harbour: a fuelling station, a public careening area, shipping affairs, customs, daily weather forecasts, water and electricity, a rescue post, a ship chandler, Internet connections, etc. For your entertainment, restaurants and nightclubs are to be found within the harbour, very often frequented by the most famous stars in show biz – particularly during the Cannes Film Festival and in the summer. The pleasure of strolling around one of the greenest harbours on the French Riviera is not to be neglected. In the near future, several more shops and restaurants will be opening on the harbour. Thanks to its ideal location on La Croisette, Port Pierre Canto offers immediate access to the town centre, its shops, beaches and restaurants. Cannes and all its major events are just waiting to be explored, time and time again. |
